Temperature to dip in Odisha, more fog likely next week: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The IMD forecast on Sunday said the night temperature in the state would gradually slide by two to four degrees Celsius again over the next three to four days. The dense fog warning would also continue in some districts till Jan 7, the forecast stated.Moderate to dense fog continued to engulf some places during morning hours amid slight rise in day temperature and affected road and rail communication partially in some pockets.

An IMD bulletin said Jajpur town only witnessed dense fog in the morning, while six towns, including Bhubaneswar, witnessed moderate fog, reducing visibility to a maximum of 200 metres.Hill station G Udayagiri at 6.4ºC was the coldest place in the state followed by Phulbani at 8.5ºC. The capital recorded 17.6ºC, a rise of 2.6ºC from normal.Sanjeev Dwivedi, an IMD scientist in the capital, said the wind pattern would support a drop in night temperature in the next three-four days. Thereafter, it would again rise under the influence of western disturbances. He said development of fog chances may reduce in some pockets for cloudy conditions and expected western disturbances.Dwivedi said night temperature saw a rise by two to three degree Celsius on Sunday.
IMD, in its bulletin, issued orange warning of very dense fog in Jajpur and Nayagarh districts on Monday and Tuesday.The yellow warning of dense fog would also continue at more number of districts like Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Gajapati till Jan 7.
